Schoenberg was still working entirely within the traditions of late Romanticism with his “Gurre-Lieder”. The orchestral forces required are correspondingly vast, making it necessary to introduce a larger format for the score for this edition. The volume is completed with facsimile illustrations, some of them in colour.
